Our Story

Sometimes, due to what we know, we may limit God to a practical, subtle being who rarely goes all out to shock us. That may be true in some cases, but there are definitely times when He decides to pull a trick out of His pocket that leaves us simply dumbfounded.

We weren't looking for love when it came upon us, but before we knew it, it happened and there was no stopping it. Turns out the Lord had a crazy off-the-wall plan to bring us together. Who knew?

We met the summer of 2008 at a Youth Conference. We hung out a good bit and became friends over the course of the week. We weren't interested in each other at this point, but we were sad that we didn't live closer to each other. We lived a couple states apart though, so we wouldn't see each other again for a whole year.

The following summer when we saw each other again, things were different. There was an immediate spark between us, but it remained unspoken. We were practically inseparable that week and did everything we could together. Our friendship grew and so did our feelings. By the end of the week, we were both heartbroken about leaving.

Turns out that we were able to see each other again that same summer when Brian took the last spot at a camp in Tennessee. We spent another week together at that camp and our feelings only escalated. After camp was over and Brian headed home, he called me that night and we ending up talking for an hour. That is when our relationship officially started.

We dated long distance for two and half years. Although it was one of the hardest things we ever did, it was worth it and we learned a lot.

It was really, really hard. I'm not gonna lie. Many nights, I spent a good amount of my time writing some sad love songs about missin my sweet girl from Tennessee. But it is so true that we learned a lot. We learned so much about each other by talking on the phone and writing letters. I would have waited for as long I needed to get to be with Becca.

Now, it's been almost four years since we started dating and it has been such a blessing. The Lord has definitely proved his creativity. We are two different people who lived in two different states but somehow found each other and knew from the start that it was something special.
